Hirtenberger AG can look back on more than 140 years of company history. It was founded in 1860 as a family business to manufacture metal products and various artillery materials. Very soon, however, the company started to concentrate on the industrial production of ammunition for guns and pistols, both for military and private use. Any company producing defence technology is linked to the general political development of the country in which it is located, particularly in times of war or crisis. The history of our company, too, has been very eventful, reflecting the ups and downs which determined Austrias history during the last 150 years.
